A general framework for modeling shared 1 autonomous vehicles

چکیده
27 Shared autonomous vehicles (SAVs) could provide low-cost service to travelers and possibly 28 replace the need for personal vehicles. Previous studies found that each SAV could service 29 multiple travelers, thereby eliminating several personal vehicle trips. However, a major 30 limitation of previous studies is the reliance on custom software packages with unrealistic 31 congestion models, network structures, or travel demand. For effective comparisons with 32 personal vehicle scenarios, a common traffic flow simulator is necessary. 33 This paper presents an event-based framework for implementing SAV behavior in existing 34 traffic simulation models. We demonstrate this framework in a cell transmission model-based 35 dynamic network loading simulator. We also study a heuristic approach for dynamic ride36 sharing. We compared personal vehicles and SAV scenarios on the downtown Austin city 37 network. Without dynamic ride-sharing, the additional empty repositioning trips made by 38 SAVs increased congestion and travel times. However, dynamic ride-sharing resulted in 39

Scheduling of Multiple Autonomous Guided Vehicles for an Assembly Line Using Minimum Cost Network Flow
This paper proposed a parallel automated assembly line system to produce multiple products having multiple autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs). Several assembly lines are configured to produce multiple products in which the technologies of machines are shared among the assembly lines when required. The transportation between the stations in an assembly line (intra assembly line) and among station...
متن کاملA general framework for modeling shared autonomous vehicles with dynamic network-loading and dynamic ride-sharing application
Shared autonomous vehicles could provide low-cost service to travelers and possibly replace the need for personal vehicles. Previous studies found that each SAV could service multiple travelers, thereby eliminating several personal vehicle trips, and strategies such as preemptive relocation or dynamic ride-sharing could further improve service. However, a major limitation of previous studies is...
متن کاملModeling and Intelligent Control System Design for Overtaking Maneuver in Autonomous Vehicles
The purpose of this study is to design an intelligent control system to guide the overtaking maneuver with a higher performance than the existing systems. Unlike the existing models which consider constant values for some of the effective variables of this behavior, in this paper, a neural network model is designed based on the real overtaking data using instantaneous values for variables. A fu...
متن کاملToward More Realistic Driving Behavior Models for Autonomous Vehicles in Driving Simulators
Autonomous vehicles are one of the most, if not the most, encountered elements in a driving simulator. Their impact on the realism of the simulator is critical. For autonomous vehicles to contribute positively to the realism of the hosting driving simulator, they need to have realistic appearance and, possibly more importantly, realistic behavior. This paper addresses the problem of modeling re...
متن کاملAdaptive Robust Control for Trajectory Tracking of Autonomous underwater Vehicles on Horizontal Plane
This manuscript addresses trajectory tracking problem of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) on the horizontal plane. Adaptive sliding mode control is employed in order to achieve a robust behavior against some uncertainty and ocean current disturbances, assuming that disturbance and its derivative are bounded by unknown boundary levels. The proposed approach is based on a dual layer adaptive...
